Denali National Park, July 2007

The Nenana River - we tested the water, and it was definitely glacial in origin

Whitewater rafts were launched down this slope

Snowy mountain in Denali National Park

The park is full of lovely views like this.

Clouds came and went all day, making photography a challenge

It's hard to tell, but Mt. McKinley's peak is just visible in this view.

This bunny was nice enough to pose for us by a dry creek bed

A better view of the bunny's creek bed

Mt McKinley actually appears in the back ground of this view; you can just make it out in the next photo

The ghostly white peak in the background is Mt McKinley. We had a better view the next day.

The Savage River hike was a long one

Interesting rock formation along the Savage River

Can't get enough of those rocks

Lichen-encrusted rocks on the river in orange, black, gray, and green

Only buses beyond this point in the park

We got closer to this mountain on the way back

Veins of quartz are visible in this rock

I am standing under the mountain

This bird appeared to be posing for us

Because of its cry of alarm, we called this the Get-Out bird

The Get-Out bird was trying to lead us away from its nearby family

If you look closely, you will see several nicely camouflaged chicks

We later learned that the Get-Out bird is actually Alaska's state bird, the Willow Ptarmigan

Another moose sighting!

She posed nicely for us.

Looking back over our hike on the Savage River
